Heartwarming update after Aussie dad Dan Gaut fought to stop his daughter from being adopted out in the US
EXCLUSIVE
An Australian tradie who fought to prevent his daughter from being adopted in the US has shared a heartwarming update as his little girl visits him Down Under for the first time.
Sydney carpenter Dan Gaut won hearts around the world in February when he raised money to travel to the US to pick up his newborn daughter.
His pregnant American girlfriend Liv Pavlov suddenly returned to the US without him, rekindling a relationship with a former partner and then announcing she would put the baby up for adoption.
Mr Gaut begged her to give the baby to him to raise in Australia, and she initially agreed, but turned down the offer when baby Ana Rose arrived in March, with the former couple agreeing to share custody and their daughter to raise in both countries.
On Thursday, Gaut revealed that his nine-month-old little girl had made her first trip to Australia to spend time with him.
“My heart overflows when my sweet little angel comes to visit,” he wrote on Instagram.
Mr Gaut posted photos online showing the couple enjoying trips to the beach, paddle boarding on a river, visiting national parks and playing with children’s toys.
Many fans and friends congratulated the proud father on his joyful news.

Another said: ‘So glad you’re reconnecting with your mini; she’s cute!’
“I hope you share many more moments together…daughters need their daddies!”
Mr Gaut met his ex while on holiday in San Francisco in early 2023, before she followed him back to Australia and their whirlwind romance began.
But things changed when she became pregnant. Liv became homesick and planned a short trip to Texas to be with her support network.
However, she chose to stay in the US, telling Mr Gaut that she and their unborn baby would never return, and that she wanted to have their child adopted at birth.
A crowdfunding page set up by Mr Gaut’s friends raised more than $35,000 to help him make a final cut to the United States to retrieve his daughter after Ms Pavlov agreed to legally hand her over if he died during or shortly after would fly to her to be with her. the birth.
But when he arrived, she changed her mind and decided she wanted to keep and raise baby Ana in the United States.

“I feel heartbroken and empty as I am forced to leave America alone,” Gaut revealed in an emotional Instagram post at the time.
However, in April, Ms Tavlov told Daily Mail Australia she only raised the idea of adoption because the couple could not agree on the future of their unborn child.
“A friend of mine had had a miscarriage and she wanted nothing more than to be a mother,” Pavlov said at the time.
‘At the time, we couldn’t agree on how to effectively raise her once she arrived, so I suggested that giving her to a loving family might be a better option.
“There have been no formal investigations with adoption agencies – nor have we ever entered into an agreement that he would have the exclusive right to freedom.”
The saga came to a happy ending just weeks after the birth when, after Mrs Pavlov revealed, the former couple wanted Mr Gaut to be a major part of Ana’s life and share custody of their daughter.

“Well, the tides are always changing and I’m happy to announce that baby Ana Rose is so loved by both her mother and her father Daniel Gaut,” Pavlov wrote on social media in April.
“After five weeks here in America, Dad Daniel has gone home for a while while we regroup and work out our shared custody agreement so we can have flow in our lives in the next chapter.”
