Damar Hamlin’s family revealed that the player suffered “lung damage” after being revived twice on Monday night, but his ventilator usage dropped from 100 percent to just 50 percent.
The 24-year-old Buffalo Bills player is said to have an “upward trend” but remains sedated in ICU for around 36 hours after going into cardiac arrest on the field following a big hit against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaking to reporters outside the University of Cincinnati Medical Center last night, Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn, said: ‘Right now we’re just trying to get him to breathe better. Right now he is on a ventilator just to help him with breathing.
“He’s got a little bit of lung damage from yesterday, but he was 100 percent on the ventilator helping him breathe, but now it’s 50 percent, so that’s a good thing.”

Hamlin, pictured in October, managed to get up briefly before falling backwards to the ground and lying still as a huge outpouring of support washed over the young player.

‘Like I said, we’re just going to take it day by day. I am grateful for all the prayers and support.’
Glenn also revealed for the first time that the Bills security came back to life not only once on the field, but also in the hospital after being transported by ambulance.
‘His heart had gone out, so they had to resuscitate him twice. They resuscitated him in the field before taking him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they took him to the hospital,’ he said. CNN.
“They sedated him just to give him a better chance to continue to heal better. We are just taking it day by day. It seems that he is trending upwards in a positive way.
‘He is still in ICU and sedated while they continue to administer medical treatment. I am thankful for the staff that have been working with him.

The Buffalo Bills safety, who organized toy charity drives to raise money for his local community, had tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgens in the first quarter of Monday night’s crucial game.

Hamlin was rushed to the hospital after CPR was administered on the field while surrounded by his horrified teammates, following a major hit early in Monday night’s NFL game.
He is currently in critical condition and the sports world was shocked by his sudden deterioration after hitting a tackle on Bengals catcher Tee Higgens.
“His heart rate was restored on the field” and he was taken to the medical center “for further testing and treatment,” the Bills team tweeted Tuesday.
Hamlin pictured alongside his mother Nina during his playing days as a child. He said he chose to stay close to home when he went to college so he could be close to his family.
He was surrounded by players from both sides and received treatment for 16 minutes before being pinned and carried off the field.
Bills players were visibly stunned when their teammate received life-saving treatment on the field.
