Damar Hamlin’s breathing tube was removed in the latest sign of improved Buffalo Bills safety after he was resuscitated on the Cincinnati field Monday night after going into cardiac arrest.
Hamlin began communicating with doctors Thursday in writing, but was unable to speak due to his breathing tube. With that removed, the 24-year-old began speaking at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.
“A blessing,” Charania’s tweet began. ‘The breathing tube is out on Damar Hamlin as of this morning and he has started talking to his Buffalo Bills teammates again. Hamlin has had a breathing tube in his body through his throat since Monday night, but he no longer needs it and he can fully breathe on his own.
