- Sadaf Khan sued Syed Mohammed Bilal, whom she met during her insurance job
- Bilal was a client who was determined to marry her; she turned him down
- He hacked into her phone and told her family and friends that she was a lesbian
A Dallas woman has received a landmark $450,000 award for revenge porn victims after suing a lovesick stalker who hacked her phone and threatened to distribute her intimate photos when she rejected his marriage proposal.
Sadaf Khan was working at an insurance agency when Syed Mohammed Bilal, a client, started stalking her in 2021.
He proposed marriage repeatedly and became increasingly desperate when she rejected him.
According to Khan's lawsuit, Bilal hacked her phone, obtained the images as blackmail and then sent them to her relatives.
He also claimed they were married, that she had cheated on him and that she was a lesbian, according to her lawsuit.
According to Khan's lawsuit, Bilal hacked her phone, obtained the images as blackmail and then sent them to her relatives. Neither party was photographed
“Because Ms. Khan comes from the traditional Pakistani community, which has a very gloomy view of extramarital affairs, the threat was serious.
“As a result of his defamation, Ms. Khan lost her job, her car and her home,” the complaint reads.
Bilal was already married, the lawsuit alleges, but was determined to stay with Khan.
She sought $1,000,000 in damages, but was awarded less than half ($450,000) by a jury on December 14.
It remains unclear what Bilal does for work, and whether he has the resources to honor the settlement.
Khan's lawyers did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com's queries.
Although substantial, her award is a fraction of the $1.2 billion awarded to another Texas woman in a recent case.
In that case, boyfriend Marques Jamal Jackson had installed a security camera at his ex's mother's home to harass and stalk her.
He also distributed intimate photos of her.
