College championship-winning quarterback Stetson Bennett “hid behind a wall” to possibly avoid officers before being taken into custody for his own safety, a police report revealed.

The 25-year-old, who led Georgia to back-to-back national championships, was arrested in the early morning hours of January 29 for public intoxication.

The quarterback was arrested around 6 a.m. local time after officers responded to a man banging on doors in Dallas, where he was training for the NFL draft.

New details of the arrest emerged Tuesday after Dallas police released their report of the incident to the Athens Banner-Herald.

The incident report says that police saw Bennett “walking further back into the enclosed area to hide behind a brick wall at a random (apartment) in an attempt to avoid detection (by the arresting officers).” .

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett was arrested in Dallas for public intoxication in January.

According to the report, the officers asked Bennett to get off the wall multiple times before he finally complied and was handcuffed.

Bennett identified himself and claimed that he was visiting a friend at the location. However, she was unable to provide the friend’s address or call him because he was not in possession of his cell phone.

Police said Bennett smelled strongly of alcohol and could be the victim of a crime if he wasn’t apprehended.

The report of the incident was made public Tuesday, during the same week that Bennett is among more than 300 league prospects set to participate in the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

As a senior in 2022, Bennett went 15-0 and passed for 4,127 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

On January 9, Bennett’s Bulldogs defeated TCU 65-7 to claim their second straight CFP national championship. Bennett threw two touchdown passes and rushed for two more in the game.

“That was special, I’ll remember it for the rest of my life,” Bennett said after the game in Los Angeles. ‘Champions from around the world.

“Just looking at everyone who was here when I got here, and they’re still here and we’re back to back, I just, I don’t know.”

He finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting and in January was projected as a third-round pick in the April 27-29 NFL Draft by ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr.
