Tristan Vizcaino’s release means the only kicker signed to the Dallas Cowboys is now former football player Brandon Aubrey.
Aubrey signed with the Cowboys last month and previously punted for the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, where he turned heads by scoring 14 of 15 field goals and converting 100 percent of his PATs.
But just a few years ago, Aubrey was a star on the football field. He played for Notre Dame in college before being selected by Toronto FC in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.
He spent time playing for Toronto FC II, an affiliate of the United Soccer League, before signing with then Bethlehem Steel. Bethlehem would release the 28-year-old in 2018.
“As we went through the evaluation process, we felt this was an opportunity to give Brandon the majority rep,” said Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

Team owner Jerry Jones also recently praised Aubrey saying, “We feel comfortable.”
“We are excited about what we have seen. We’re excited about how he got here, and he’s got a really solid camp. So we are very comfortable going into the season with him.’
Aubrey will see action for the first time on Saturday when the Cowboys take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in their opening game of the preseason.
