Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could face a jury on a sexual assault charge after the Texas Supreme Court rejected his latest appeal in the 2020 personal injury case.
The case was dismissed last February, with a state appeals court overturning the decision a year later.
That decision allowed the case to proceed and now, according to the Dallas Morning News, the Supreme Court has rejected an appeal filed on behalf of Jones in May.
The lawsuit relates to an alleged incident in September 2018, at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, when a woman alleges that Jones, 80, “kissed her on the mouth and grabbed her violently without her consent.”
The case was originally against both Jones and the Dallas Cowboys amid allegations that team officials “were or should have been aware of” the owner’s “misconduct.”

Later, the NFL was added as a defendant in the case, though the league is reportedly not listed in this most recent update.
The woman has said the alleged abuse has caused her “serious emotional distress,” “psychological pain and suffering” and medical expenses.
“My client is very happy that she and victims of sexual abuse from around the world are finally getting justice in court and that a jury is hearing the case,” her attorney told the Dallas Morning News.
According to the report, this decision means a new trial date will be set. He said of Jones, “He will be held accountable… there is no more evasion or delay. It’s time for justice.’
Jones has previously denied the allegations, labeling them “malicious and hurtful.”
The 80-year-old is also involved in a legal battle involving another woman. In December, he was ordered by a judge to take a paternity test to determine if he is the biological father of the 26-year-old woman who sued him earlier last year.
