Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey misses practice for patriotic reason

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey was called up for civilian duty this week and therefore had to miss practice on Wednesday.

Aubrey was listed as a non-participant by the Cowboys in practice because he was called for jury duty in Tarrant County, Texas to serve on a twelve-person jury for a felony. Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The case in which Aubrey serves on the 12-member jury includes a second-degree strangulation charge against the defendant. Dallas also reportedly tried to remove Aubrey from his subpoena, but was denied.

The kicker’s status for the remainder of the week’s practices is up in the air and he is expected back on the court in the next two days. The judge of the case also stated that he will work with Aubrey on his football schedule.

However, Aubrey is in line to play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Consistent with this case, Aubrey is off at night and on weekends, allowing him to travel to California with his team.
