Dalby pub fight: Lincoln Hoad left fighting for life

A man is fighting for his life after an alleged assault in the early hours of the morning, with his friends ‘praying for a great miracle’.

Lincoln Hoad, 32, was attacked outside a pub in the rural Queensland town of Dalby, 208km west of Brisbane, at 1.15am on Saturday.

A 33-year-old man from Capalaba was later charged with grievous bodily harm following the alleged attack on Cunningham Street.

Police allege two men got into an argument before Mr Hoad was hit, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.

Emergency services were called and he was taken to Dalby Hospital in a critical condition.

Mr Hoad, from Dalby, was later flown to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The man accused of assaulting him will appear at Dalby Magistrates Court on Monday, September 18.

Mr Hoad’s friend Shayden Russell has launched a fundraising campaign to help support Shalika, Mr Hoad’s partner of more than a decade.

“(They) have been together for more than 14 years and there was no doubt they were each other’s soulmates,” Ms Russell said on radio. GoFundMe page.

“They had big plans for the future when this tragedy happened. We pray for a great miracle.”

The fundraising page stated that Mr Hoad was on life support after suffering a severe brain haemorrhage and that his chance of survival was minimal.

“For those of you who were fortunate enough to meet Lincoln, you knew he was always there to help, no matter who you were or what time it was,” Ms. Russell said.

‘He was an outgoing, loud, funny, likable guy… his smile was infectious and he knew how to cheer you up instantly!

“He was always there when you needed to vent or have a chat,” she said.

The fundraiser had already raised more than $12,000 of its $15,000 goal as of Monday morning.
