Dakota Johnson says she loves Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s children ‘with all my heart’ – as she talks being ‘open’ to having her own kids

Dakota Johnson has said she loves Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s two children “like my life depends on it.”

In an interview with Rushthe actress, 34, opened up about her stepmotherhood to Apple, 19, and Moses, 17, the teenage children Coldplay singer Chris shares with Gwyneth.

She also revealed that she was “open” to having children of her own if it was “meant to be.”

‘I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,” Dakota said of Apple and Moses.

As a member of a large blended family, Dakota — who was recently spotted in Malibu — has learned to embrace relationships that aren’t blood related.

When the reporter brought up a photo Gwyneth posted of her and Dakota, she said, “I grew up in a family that was so big, and I just believe in the saying ‘Blood is thicker than water,'” she explained.

“The actual saying goes, ‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the waters of the womb,’ meaning that the connections with the people you choose are stronger than the connections with the people you were actually born to.”

Dakota’s parents are actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. They both split, with Don marrying Kelley Phleger in 1999 and Melanie tying the knot with Antonio Banderas in 1996. They divorced in 2015.

Now Dakota is open to having children of her own.

‘I’m so open to that. I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything life has to offer. And especially because I’m a woman, I think: what a magical thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience. If that’s the intention for me, I’m all for it. I’ve been really tripping lately, we haven’t been here long.

‘There is so much to eat, learn from, grow from, experience and feel. That includes all the pain and suffering and feeling so helpless about the world. Most days I feel like the most useless piece of shit.

“I’m sitting in this stupid chair talking about this stupid movie, and there are people in unbearable catastrophe, and what can I do? I have this incredible friction within myself. And then I think: we haven’t been here that long, so if I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on. ‘

The actress has been in a relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris since 2017, but watching him perform on stage is never boring.

‘I love watching him. I could watch it every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know… I’m watching my most favorite creature do his most favorite thing,” she explained.

Dakota’s interview comes after she starred in the new Marvel film Madame Web, which tanked at the box office and was criticized by critics.

The actress said she wasn’t “surprised” by the negative reviews the film received.

When asked why she wasn’t surprised, she explained, “It’s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that are getting made – and it’s even starting to happen with the little ones, and that’s what really scares me makes – decisions are made are made by committees, and art does not do well when it is made by committees.

‘Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You can’t create art based on numbers and algorithms.

“I have long felt that the public is extremely smart, and executives have come to believe that this is not the case. The public will always be able to sniff out nonsense. Even if films are made with AI, people will no longer want to see them.’

Dakota said she would probably never film a movie like that again because it “didn’t make sense in that world,” but called the film a “learning experience.”

‘It was definitely an experience for me to make that film. I had never done anything like this before. I’ll probably never do something like that again, because I don’t feel like being in that world. And I know that now.

“But sometimes in this industry you sign up for something, and it’s one thing, and as you’re making it, it becomes something completely different, and you’re like, Wait, what? But it was a real learning experience and of course it’s not fun to be part of something that’s torn to shreds, but I can’t say I don’t understand it.”
