Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney look ethereal as they transform into superheroes in new posters for superhero film Madame Web

Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney looked terrifying as they posed in several posters for the upcoming superhero movie Madame Web.

Johnson, 34, appeared in the role of Cassandra Webb in promotional images for the feature film, which will be set outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actress, who recently opened up about her sleeping habits, was also joined by some of her castmates from the film, namely Sydney Sweeney who plays Julia Carpenter, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced and Tahar Rahim.

The development on Madame Web was revealed to the public in 2019, when screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, best known for their work on Morbius, were hired to write the feature film’s script.

Although the film focuses on Marvel Comics characters, Madame Web will serve as the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which kicked off with the release of Venom in 2018.

Director SJ Clarkson was subsequently added to the project in May 2020.

Johnson was revealed to be in talks to star in the feature film in 2022.

Artists such as Charlize Theron and Amy Adams were considered for the role during the film’s casting process.

Supporting cast members, including Sweeney and Merced, were added to the project’s lineup throughout 2022.

Artists like Adam Scott, Emma Roberts, and Zosia Mamet have also joined the cast of the upcoming film.

Madame Web centers on Webb, a paramedic who develops clairvoyance after a near-death experience and is then tasked with protecting three young superheroes from a dangerous opponent.

The project’s crew started production in July 2022 and filming took place in various locations in Massachusetts and New York City.

Physical production took several months before the feature film team wrapped up in January 2023.

An official trailer for Madame Web was released last Thursday, which Johnson then spoke to Entertainment tonight to reveal that “things take quite a turn” for her character following the development of her powers.

The artist went on to say that Webb “thinks she’s going crazy” in the immediate aftermath of the incident where she receives her abilities.

Merced also spoke to the media and stated that the character’s clairvoyance changed the course of her contemporaries’ lives.

The artist stated that the change in Webb’s life would be “very interesting” and that “it plays into fate, or fate.”

Madame Web is currently set to be released to the public on Valentine’s Day.
