Dak Prescott dropped a shocking hint that he could leave the Dallas Cowboys after next season.
Prescott will be 31 the next time he throws an NFL pass as he enters the final season of his four-year, $160 million contract.
Based on Prescott’s words, it seems unlikely that a new contract will be ironed out before the start of the season, leaving the team’s franchise quarterback susceptible to free agency.
The Cowboys have not advanced to a conference championship game during Prescott’s tenure with the team, despite repeated regular season success.
Prescott has played his entire NFL career for the Cowboys since being selected by the team in the fourth round of the 2016 draft.

‘I have no fears. I’m not going to say I’m afraid to be here or not. I’m not afraid of either situation to be honest with you,” Prescott said Sunday night. “I love this game and I love to play and I love to improve myself as a player and my teammates around me.”
“Right now it’s with the Dallas Cowboys, it’s where I want to be, and that’s where I am and that’s the focus,” Prescott added. ‘After the season we will see where we are and whether the future brings that. If not, move on.”
Prescott may be entering his fourth decade on the planet, but would be valued as a starter outside of Dallas, where finding a franchise quarterback is a premium goal in the league.
Soon-to-be 36-year-old Kirk Cousins just signed a $180 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Aaron Rodgers turns 41 in December and has his connections to the New York Jets.
Prescott would have a similar market, while the Cowboys would likely fear losing one of their most consistent players of the past decade.
