A woman is charged with murder after allegedly ‘intentionally’ running over a woman, knowing she will remain in custody while her case is heard in court.

Queensland Police have charged Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, 24, with murder after allegedly striking 23-year-old Kiesha Thompson while she was driving a silver Toyota Prado at around 9am on Friday.

Police believe Thompson was struck while walking on a footpath on Allamanda Drive in the Daisy Hill suburb of Logan, 24km south of Brisbane.

Ms Thompson was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition but died in hospital several hours later.

Police suspect that the two women knew each other.

Ms Thompson had dropped her daughter off at daycare just before the incident when Ms Sant allegedly drove into the young mother and struck her.

Mrs Sant is said to have subsequently fled.

The Goodna woman’s case was briefly discussed for the first time in Ipswich Crown Court on Monday.

Her lawyer, Thomas Allen, told the court the case should be adjourned to Beenleigh District Court.

The prosecutor agreed to have the case postponed to another jurisdiction.

Ms Sant has been remanded in custody and will appear via video link on July 31.

She has not filed a request for bail.

In Queensland, a person accused of murder can only apply for bail in the Supreme Court.

Outside court, Mr Allen told media he had “no comment”.

“We allege that the event was in fact not an accident and that the lady who lost her life was in fact targeted by another individual,” Detective Inspector Chris Knight told media on Sunday.

‘The young woman who lost her life was a mother. She had dropped her daughter off at daycare.

“To say the family is severely traumatized is an understatement.”

Ms Sant was arrested in Ipswich after officers seized a silver Prado on Saturday.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward, particularly the driver of a bus and his passengers on Allamanda Drive on Friday.
