Her character’s plight has seemingly struck a cord with the film star, who previously told how shooting to fame following her stint in Normal People was a ‘very lonely experience’ as her stardom happened during lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to The Mirror about how she can in a way relate to Kya, Daisy said: ‘The theme of isolation really stuck with me, especially with everything we have been through because of the pandemic.’

Sharing how she was moved by her character’s resilient outlook on life, she went on: ‘Being able to escape into Kya’s world and see how she finds comfort, solace and love through the connections she makes with the natural world around her was incredibly comforting and moving.’

As a fan of the original book by author Delia Owen, Daisy added that she was ‘lucky’ to have had the opportunity to portray the character.

Daisy shot to fame in 2020 after starring alongside Paul Mescal in the BBC mega-hit Normal People.

The beauty recently previously to feeling slightly lonely in her newfound fame, as the series became a household hit during lockdown.

‘It was a very lonely experience in many ways because we weren’t able to share the joys of certain things, but it was obviously amazing,’ she said.

And Daisy’s latest film – which also sees her character Kya involved in a love triangle with two men before becoming a murder suspect when one of them turns up dead – will certainly see her soar to worldwide stardom once again.

The film, which is an adaption of a bestseller novel by Delia Owen and produced by Oscar winning actress Reese Witherspoon, has already racked up $17 million at the American box office.
