Dad reveals how he feeds family of 6 for just $28 at Cheesecake Factory – but shocks viewers with how he tipped
A family of six enjoyed dinner at The Cheesecake Factory on June 6 for just $28 together — and then shocked social media users with how much they tipped.
The Milehams, who post on TikTok under the username @glazedepoxy, shared a video of a conversation between father Josh and their waiter after eating their light dinner at the Highland Village, Texas establishment.
Before giving the waiter his tip, Josh asked how the waiter felt about the total price of the meal being outrageously low for six people, to which he replied, “I didn’t mind.”
The family – who often show their followers how to eat cheaply on a budget – ordered a barbecue chicken salad and gluten-free fries for the table.
First, Josh showed how to separate the salad proteins from the vegetables before doling out the portions to his young children and wife Callie. Each family member then had a handful of fries, with ketchup on the side.
Josh and Callie Mileham, who are known on TikTok as The Milehams, spoke to their server at The Cheesecake Factory after spending $28 on their meal for six.
Josh asked their waiter for six plates and “lots of extra ranch” – and the meal only came to $28.04.
After finishing his meal, Josh stunned social media users by outright asking the server what he thought his tip should be.
The server responded honestly and said, “If you felt like I provided you with good service, I would like to share my tip with you to reflect on how you feel I served you.”
He explained that he had seen other restaurant patrons do this trick in the past.
“Normally I have people ordering light for multiple people,” the waiter said.
‘I usually tend not to form an opinion. I do it more based on how you guys are.”
The server added that he usually tries to aim for 20 percent of the meal total. He said, “If they give me that twenty percent tip, I usually think that’s a good middle ground.”
According to the receipt, $6.17 is the suggested tip for a server if someone wants to leave a 22 percent tip, which Mileham’s waiter thought was fair.
Josh asked their server what he thought was a fair meal of the $28 meal. The server told Josh, “I like my tip to reflect on how you think I served you.”

After some criticism online, the family posted a message a third video on June 10 with the cheerful server — and revealed that they actually gave him a staggering $100 tip.
The waiter smiled from ear to ear and told the family that “it was a pleasure” taking care of them.
“Our total was $28.04, and then of course you see the different tips that would be appropriate and kind, but we left a $100 tip,” Callie said.
‘He was great. Super attentive. Super nice. Great customer service.’
Several social media users who didn’t know about the $100 tip trashed the family of six for only spending $28 on restaurant food.
The Milehams posted a third TikTok video from their Cheesecake Factory outing, which showed them leaving their server a $100 tip
“Man, this young man is humble! He earned a $100 tip. I guarantee this young man is doing well because of his positive attitude,” one TikToker wrote.
The Milehams responded to comments from other TikTokers, repeatedly telling them to check out the other Cheesecake Factory video they posted.
The TikTokers also responded to another comment from someone who wrote that it “should be the company’s responsibility to pay their employees well.”
‘This is 100 percent. We want to bless others, but as a company you should pay your employees, not us, the customers,” the Milehams wrote.
