Dacre Montgomery won’t be using Wolverine’s metal claws any time soon.
The 28-year-old Australian actor has revealed that he has no interest in replacing his friend and mentor Hugh Jackman in any of the upcoming Marvel movies.

Dacre Montgomery (portrayed as Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things) has broken his silence on rumors that he might replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in future Marvel movies.
Rumors gained steam after it was reported that Hugh Jackman would not reprise his role in the next Deadpool movie.
Dacre had reportedly been up against Taron Egerton, Paul Mescal, Milo Gibson and Daniel Radcliffe for the iconic role.
He said that his friendship with Hugh, who offered him guidance early in his Hollywood career, was more important to him than landing a big role in a franchise.

Instead, he has set his sights on grittier roles.
Dacre, who most recently starred as TV director Steve Binder in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, says he’s drawn to meatier scripts with character development.
“I feel like it’s an incredible opportunity as a newcomer to the world of Australian acting to create my own story,” he said.

“I think what’s amazing about this is that there’s an emphasis on sensitivity in masculinity,” he said.
Dacre is expected to star in two movies this year: Spider and Jessie and Went Up that Hill.
