Cyndi Lauper’s son is facing eviction from his luxury Manhattan apartment after neighbors complained about loud music, late-night shouting and marijuana smells.
Declyn “Dex” Lauper-Thornton’s landlord has filed an eviction notice seeking to have the 26-year-old removed from his $7,200-a-month apartment.
Lauper-Thornton has been accused of violating leasing rules at the apartment complex in the Financial District since moving in last October.
According to documents, the neighbors are experiencing “thumping music” and loud yelling, screaming, screaming coming from the apartment at night.
In February, a resident below the apartment told the landlord she feared for her safety because of the constant yelling and noise.

The resident, who was not named in the papers, complained that loud noises from the apartment were having a “severe and negative impact on her life.”
Others complained about the smell of marijuana coming from the apartment, loud shouting and sounds of fighting.
Court papers show he walked into the building management office one evening carrying a “marijuana butter and looking visually intoxicated.”
The documents allege he then threatened employees via email, saying, “If you don’t fix the email, I’ll come back with people and everyone’s faces will be broken.”
‘I’ll break your legs. I have friends and an uncle who will destroy you. Don’t play with me, because I will take someone and tear this whole house apart.’
A former neighbor told the New York Post: ‘I’ve never had any problems with the neighbors.
‘Then a new tenant came and immediately there was very loud music playing at the most bizarre times, for example 3 am or 7 am. It felt like there was a nightclub right behind my wall.”
A source also told the outlet that a day after a tenant confronted Lauper-Thornton, the former neighbor found a bullet near his apartment and decided to move out.

A neighbor also told the Post: “I heard the disturbing music every other day. There were plenty of times when it was 2am, 3am, or 4am
‘One day on a weekday I had an important meeting, but the night before I woke up at 3am because the music was blasting.
‘I could feel the bass. I put on a bathrobe and went to confront the guy in a nice way, and I had to bang on the door so loud because he just couldn’t hear.
“He tried to take the high road with me and said, ‘Oh, is this how you talk to people?’ I said, “Yeah, at three in the morning, I’m not going to be too nice about it.”
“So we had this conversation for 30 seconds. I left and the music continued.”
In February, Lauper-Thornton appeared in court on weapons charges in connection with a shooting in Harlem.
He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, according to court documents.
Dex was taken into custody after a shooting in which a 24-year-old man was found shot in the leg near an apartment building.
He is the only son of music icon Lauper and her actor husband David Thornton who was seen bailing his son out of jail with a lot of money.
During a later procedural hearing in the case, he showed paparazzi a peace sign after appearing in court.

Cyndi Lauper’s husband, actor David Thornton, was previously pictured bailing their son out of jail with a ton of cash
Wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, striped tie and a red and gray scarf, Thornton posted his son’s $20,000 bail at a New York City Department of Correction facility.
He was previously arrested after being found in possession of a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz during a July 14, 2022, memorial service for an aspiring rapper named Ethan Reyes, who was fatally stabbed days earlier.
Dex was arrested while sitting in the idling vehicle that was double-parked at the intersection of 140th Street and Broadway, the New York Post reported.
Prosecutors in the case said Dex told police officers when questioned about the vehicle, “You probably know who I am.”
Dex entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct with no jail time in connection with the incident.
As a condition of his plea deal, Dex was ordered by the Manhattan Criminal Court to avoid further trouble for a year; and performing a community service order that lasted five days. According to the newspaper, he faces up to a year in prison if convicted.
After the October 2022 court hearing, Dex was seen smoking marijuana (which is legal in New York City) with friends as he boarded an SUV parked outside the courthouse.

In a post to Instagram Stories that day, Dex posted an image of a smoke-filled vehicle with the caption, “Court.”
Dex, who has previously collaborated with rapper G-Eazy, told the Post at the time that he and his famous mother had collaborated on musical material.
“My mom and I have a few songs that we recorded,” he says the newspaper said at the timeadding that the end of the earlier case was “absolutely a blessing” for him.
Lauper told me last year Vanity fair that Dex’s musical tastes tended to be “more underground,” adding, “He’s on SoundCloud and he’s a great artist.”
In the chat, Lauper talked about the balance between parenting and her career.
“People said I was so career-driven, but once the child came I looked at how I could support everything: make a record, go on tour – and my husband said, ‘Go to Europe, I’ve got him,’” she said. ‘I sometimes took my son on tour, but he needed his own space.’
