Cygnett phone charger sold at JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks is urgently recalled over fire fears

A popular phone charger sold at major retailers across Australia has been recalled amid fears the product could catch fire if it overheats.

The Cygnett MagMove 5K dual magnet power bank has been rushed off shelves after Product Safety Australia issued a recall.

The notice states that there is a high risk to consumers, who could suffer burns if the battery in the wireless device overheats and catches fire.

Consumers who purchased the device have been urged to immediately stop using the power bank and return it to the place of purchase.

Five models of the power bank are affected by the problem.

The affected models are CY456PBCHE, CY4631PBCHE, CY4615PBCHE, CY4620PBCHE and CY4626PBCHE.

The product was sold across Australia between September 2023 and March 2024 at several major retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Telstra, Optus and Harvey Norman.

Cygnett, a company based in Melbourne, produces a range of tech goods including phone chargers, charging cables and mobile phone holders.
