A cyclist who was sent flying through the air after being hit by a car at a busy intersection for running a red light has divided the internet.
Dramatic dashcam footage showed the moment a white sedan hit the BMX rider who was crossing at the intersection of Richmond Road and Third Avenue in Blacktown, Sydney’s west.
The bicycle shot through the air and landed several meters away, provoking an angry response from the cyclist.
The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, crossed the road despite the red pedestrian light.
The cyclist then began banging on the passenger window of the car, leaving his broken bike in the middle of the road.
The cyclist’s female companion, who had already crossed the road, was also seen repeatedly trying to open the car door.
Footage of the terrifying incident was shared on the Facebook group Dashcam Owners Australia on Monday and has since been viewed 192,000 times.
The clip received hundreds of responses.

Australian motorists were divided over who was at fault, but many were convinced the cyclist was to blame.
“The audacity to punch the window in anger when it was his own stupidity,” said one viewer.
Another added: ‘Perfect example of why cyclists should dismount to cross.’
A third person wrote: ‘A passenger is not allowed to cross if the driver has a green light.’
A fourth person noted, “It was the cyclist’s fault.”
A fifth person commented: ‘Good reason why [cyclists] ‘must pay registration fees and have insurance.’
Another said, “Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.”
New South Wales police are aware of the footage, a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
