Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty can lock you out of the main questline if you’re not careful

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom freedom officially launches tomorrow and brings with it brand new story content for the sci-fi RPG. However, it turns out that making just one small choice can lock you out of the main questline for good.

Minor spoilers ahead for Phantom Liberty.

As a PC gamer reportsDuring the end of the fourth quest in the DLC story called Lucretia My Reflection, players are presented with several optional dialogue options that can continue the quest line or lock you out completely.

PC Gamer tested the options and found that choosing the wrong choice means you won’t be able to continue the quest later, but you can still explore the new location and district, Dogtown.

To know when to avoid accidentally ruining your playthrough and missing an adventure with Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed, here’s what you need to do.

At the end of Lucretia My Reflection – the fourth main mission in the story, after Dog Eat Dog, Hole in the Sky and Spider and Fly – Reed is joined by NUSA President Rosalind Myers. While talking to both of them, Reed will eventually say, “I don’t know how much she pays, but you better ask yourself, is it worth it.”

You can then choose a number of dialogue options. The “You’re right, I’m out” option will be the first step in locking you out, so if you want to avoid that choice completely.

If you ultimately choose to do so, the game gives you another chance to change your decision. President Myers will warn you and say, “If you walk out of here, the deal is void. Understood?” If you then choose “My decision made” you will be locked out, causing the main mission to fail completely.

Later, Reed will contact you to let you know that Myers has arrived safely, but when you try to reply, his account is inaccessible.

So be careful during this particular mission as there is no way to continue with the main mission afterwards. We recommend that you make a backup before the call, just in case.

If you return to Night City, CD Projekt Red has recommended that players start a brand new save due to Update 2.0’s massive overhaul, which essentially revamps the original game.
