CD Projekt Red has revealed this Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 25 million copies since its launch in 2020 Phantom freedom officially releases three million in its first week.
During an investor presentation today (October 5), CEO Adam Kiciński announced the new milestone, revealing that sales of the game are up from the 18 million reported in April last year and 20 million in September (via VGC).
“The phenomenal Witcher 3 reached a similar level in 4.5 years and here (in CyberpunkIn this case) just over two years (since release), so we are selling much faster than the Witcher game,” Kiciński said.
Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz also shared this Phantom freedomLaunched on September 26, it has already sold three million in its first week.
“To contextualize this, we estimated how many gamers now have the main game on PC or the new consoles – all the platforms you can play it on – and that’s 20 million,” Nielubowicz explains.
“20 million players who have the main game or updated the old version to the new generation. So 15% of all gamers bought the expansion within a week. This is a phenomenal result, and this is just the beginning – sales continue to increase. “

When Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and became the biggest PC launch of all time after selling eight million pre-order copies across both PC and console.
Naturally, there was so much excitement surrounding the game – which had been in development for about nine years – that it did extremely well in sales.
Despite its rough launch, it actually sold up to 13 million copies before CD Projekt Red informed us of the 20 million sales milestone in September 2022, which followed the release of patch 1.6.
However, even though Phantom freedom seems to be successful, the developer has confirmed that no matter how well the game sells, this will be the game’s only expansion.
That’s according to Michał Nowakowski, SVP of business development at CD Projekt, who said it had to do with a “technological decision.”
“The decision has actually been made,” Nowakowski said. “As we announced a long time ago, we are not going to make a second or third expansion. This is the only expansion of the game and it has nothing to do with the numbers and how satisfied we are or not with sales or anything like that.”
Elsewhere, patch 2.01 has been officially rolled out, and it includes a bunch of fixes, performance improvements around the new Dogtown district, and REDmod support for Phantom Liberty.
