Two Oregon dog owners turned their dead pet into a porch ornament for the outrageous price of $2,500, which they still kiss and pet.

Daniel and Sharon Smyth of Florence, Oregon nursed their late Matlipoo named Sparky after he died at age 13.

The couple placed Sparky’s stuffed body near the window where he used to sit and watch over the house.

Sharon, 53, shared The American sun that Sparky was like a child to them and feels that he is now ‘reborn’.

The expensive price of having their precious pup filled didn’t bother the couple who had been married for 30 years, as they wanted Sparky in their lives forever.

Sparky died suddenly on November 24, 2022, after falling ill and leaving his owners devastated.

In an effort to never physically say goodbye to Sparky, Daniel and Sharon consulted their local taxidermist and paid the high cost without any hassle.

Daniel said he had “reached the age where he could do whatever he wanted” and that all he wished was for Sparky to “still be with them as long as they’re still alive.”

Sharon revealed that she kisses and pets Sparky’s stuffed body, just like she did when he was alive.

“We always go there and talk to him and pet him like he’s still alive, because he’s still alive in our hearts,” Sharon said.

She considered the dog like a child to her, as he was her very first pet.

Daniel revealed that the reason they considered taxidermy was due to the simple fact that they missed Sparky.

He also said he was influenced by neighbors he had growing up who had done the same for their deceased pets.

“I’ve always remembered and admired that,” Daniel said.

The morning after Sparky died unexpectedly, Daniel said he called the taxidermist and discussed next steps.

The almost identical aspect of Sparky’s cuddly body pleases the couple, as they feel like their dog never leaves their side. Daniel said Sparky’s presence is a “physical comfort” for them.

‘It’s like he’s still alive now that he’s back in the house. It makes us very happy,” Sharon told The US Sun.

They both considered Sparky a “cuddly little boy.”
