Customer catches the moment that delivery driver Just Eat ‘takes chips from his takeaway restaurant’

Customer Captures Just Eat Delivery Driver ‘Snatching Chips From His Takeaway Shop’ On Ring’s Doorbell Camera

  • Wayne Fry, 42, believes he saw the man eating his chips outside his home in Dorset

A customer has claimed that a delivery driver mocked his chips before handing over his takeout order – and he has the footage to prove it.

After ordering his food through Just Eat, Wayne Fry, 42, watched on his Ring doorbell as the worker arrived at his home in Weymouth, Dorset.

Video footage appears to show the delivery man reaching into the bag and picking something up – then moving his hand to his mouth. Mr. Fry says he’s convinced some of his chips have been stolen.

“I just couldn’t believe what I saw. He stopped and took the bag of food from the passenger seat and started eating,” Mr. Fry said.

“He certainly had a few hands full. When we unpacked the food, the other paper bags were neatly twisted together at the top – but the chips bag was just crumpled.

“I’m sure he shook it so it looked like there were more chips in it than there really were.”

Mr Fry, his wife and three children ordered chips, curries and chicken balls via the Just Eat app at around 6.45pm on 14 July.

Although the order was made through Just Eat, the driver turned out to be from the restaurant itself.

The family ate the rest of the food, but couldn’t bring themselves to eat the chips after watching the clip.

After complaining to the popular online takeout company, Just Eat offered him a full refund and the takeaway restaurant offered him free food.

The 42-year-old has now said he will never order from the restaurant again.

“You just don’t expect to see that when you’re treating the family — we really thought we saw things,” he shared.

“You also wonder what else is going on and how many other people this has happened to.

‘If he needed a few quid for some chips I would have gladly given it to him. But I don’t know where his hands have been – I don’t want to eat them in us!’

Neither Just Eat nor the takeaway restaurant commented.

Earlier this year, Just Eat announced plans to cut around 1,700 delivery driver jobs – the vast majority of which are said to be in the UK – following a slowdown in takeaway demand following the end of the Covid lockdown.

The Anglo-Dutch company said the cuts are part of an overhaul aimed at improving efficiency and cutting costs.

It comes after the takeaway company launched big-budget ads featuring stars like Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry, both with catchy songs that were a hit on social media.
