Actor Ray Buffer, best known for “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” admitted to stealing $854 worth of comic books from a San Diego store in an October robbery that was caught on tape.
Buffer, 55, appeared in court Thursday, months after Southern California Comics shared footage of him tucking the books under his shirt and leaving the store.
The actor, who also starred in ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘CSI: Miami’, was slammed on social media by the store’s owners over the incident.
Buffer pleaded guilty to one charge of petty larceny, according to the San Diego City Attorney’s Office.
He was ordered to pay back the value of the comics and take them into custody one day.

The theft occurred at the comic book store in San Diego on October 4, 2022.
Buffer originally pleaded not guilty in early court hearings, but he changed his plea on Thursday, according to the New York Post.
Video footage of the incident shows Buffer lurking in the corner of the store in a blue and white striped T-shirt.
The actor is then seen sifting through stacks of comic books before shoving one under his shirt.
The store owner said the actor stole 10 strips worth $854.
The store uploaded the images along with a caption that said, “If this man looks familiar, please contact us. Thank you!’
In addition to a day in custody and having to pay back the shop owners, Buffer will serve a year of probation.
A judge has ordered him to also serve 12 hours of community service take an anti-theft course, the New York Post reported.
Jamie Newbold, the owner of Southern California Comics, told The Post he was happy to put the matter behind him.
“This guy stressed me out, stressed my employees, kept us stressed,” Newbold said.
