Crystal Palace’s Premier League match with London rivals West Ham has been delayed by 15 minutes due to season ticket issues at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace’s home game with West Ham has been postponed by 15 minutes due to a season ticket issue at Selhurst Park.

The London derby is a crucial encounter for two teams at the bottom of the Premier League.

But kick-off has been postponed from 12.30pm to 12.45pm due to problems with season ticket holders and turnstiles in South East London.

Leading up to kick-off, there were a significant number of empty seats in the 25,486 capacity stadium, forcing officials to delay the start until the issue could be resolved.

Ahead of the official delay, Crystal Palace tweeted: “We are aware of issues with turnstiles entering the stadium, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to rectify the situation.”

Crystal Palace hosted London rivals West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon

Selhurst Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary next summer and has hosted Crystal Palace for 99 years, alongside short-term loan spells from South London’s Charlton Athletic and Wimbledon.

In March, a number of Champions League matches in London were briefly delayed due to traffic problems, which delayed the arrival of the visiting teams before kick-off.

Saturday’s meeting sees the Hammers need a win to try to solve their own relegation problems as the Eagles continue to try and build on their new life under interim boss Roy Hodgson. Follow the live blog here.
