Crystal Palace have reportedly failed to poach Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna as he remains reluctant to join his side in the Premier League promotion hunt.

Chairman Steve Parish spoke to McKenna’s camp but he is unwilling to leave with Ipswich fourth in the Championship while Palace are 15th in the top flight.

Palace are still hoping he can take over at the end of the season and Parish would prefer to replace Hodgson, but McKenna will not commit to that due to Ipswich’s current upward trajectory. The guard.

They are also reportedly keeping an eye on Oliver Glasner, the Austrian who led Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory and a domestic cup final before leaving in June 2023, according to The Telegraph.

Hodgson has insisted Palace can get out of their ‘bad spell’ before their season crumbles, but a run of four wins in 18 Premier League games has increased the threat of relegation.

The mood among the Eagles faithful has soured in recent weeks, with angry fans unfurling banners blaming ‘wasted potential’ and ‘weak decisions’ following the 5-0 defeat to Arsenal last month.

Hodgson narrowly avoided being hit by a missile launched from the stands of Selhurst Park earlier this year and afterwards claimed that supporters had been ‘spoiled’ by the club in recent years.

This is Palace’s longest uninterrupted run in the top flight in their history, now heading into their eleventh consecutive season after promotion in 2013.

However, a talented group of players including Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise have often looked shackled and they have dropped to 15th in the table, just five points above the drop zone.

They took the lead against Chelsea on Monday evening, but conceded an equalizer just after half-time and capitulated in stoppage time, giving up a point twice.

Conor Gallagher scored twice against his old club to fuel the Blues’ comeback and condemn Palace to a third league defeat in four games.

Hodgson has called this the ‘toughest period’ of his career, but he will be desperate to get a job at a club he has led to a generally stable spell in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Ipswich boss McKenna is on the rise and can seemingly do no wrong.

Fans have expressed their dissatisfaction and Hodgson their lack of support

The former Manchester United coach guided Ipswich to second place and automatic promotion from League One last season after they endured three average seasons.

Now they are competing with recent Premier League dropouts Southampton and Leeds United for second place in the Championship.

More broadly, McKenna has reinvigorated Ipswich with optimism after years of mediocrity and dismay.

When asked last week about stories linking him with Palace, he said: ‘My full focus and commitment is on Ipswich and the season we are having and the next game ahead of us.’
