Crystal Palace set to call time on Roy Hodgson’s second stint as manager amid dismal run of form, with former Bundesliga boss leading candidate to replace him

Crystal Palace are about to complete Roy Hodgson’s second reign as head coach.

It remains to be seen whether Hodgson will leave before Monday’s match against Everton, but the decision has been made to make a change before the end of the season amid widespread fan dissatisfaction.

Chairman Steve Parish initially wanted to stay with Hodgson until the summer, but the experienced manager’s position at Selhurst Park has been in doubt for several weeks amid a run of just three wins in 19 games in all competitions.

Discussions are now underway over who will replace Hodgson.

Mail Sport announced on February 7 that Palace were interested in former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Olivier Glasner.

Co-owner John Textor would like to highlight Glasner’s achievements and would support his appointment.

Glasner first held talks with top Eagles officials last summer as the club considered alternatives for Hodgson, who was ultimately given a new 12-month contract.

Steve Cooper, Julen Lopetegui and Kieran McKenna were all high on the club’s list, but the trio are said to be reluctant to take on the role at this stage. Parish has spoken to his co-owners to discuss Hodgson’s future and the candidates to replace him.
