Crystal Palace have confirmed that Patrick Vieira has been sacked as the club’s first team manager.
The decision comes after a dismal run for the Eagles in 2023, who have failed to win any of their 12 games since the start of the new year.
The string of results has left Palace teetering above the Premier League relegation zone, with a gap of three points separating them from 18th-placed Bournemouth.
A statement from club president Steve Parish on the club’s website read: ‘We are extremely sorry that this difficult decision has been made.
“Ultimately, the results of the last few months have put us in a precarious position in the league and we feel a change is necessary to give ourselves the best chance of retaining Premier League status.

“That being said, Patrick’s impact since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he is held in the highest regard by me and all of his colleagues.
“He led the team to an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and a respectable 12th place last season playing some exciting football, which was a challenging and crucial campaign for the club given the changes we made to the squad before he arrived.
“Patrick has given everything for the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.”
The club also confirmed that Vieira’s coaching staff Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson and Saïd Aïgoun had also left the club.
The statement also reiterated that the ‘process to appoint a new manager is underway’.
Vieira had been in charge of Palace for almost two years, after being named head coach in July 2021.
