Trevoh Chalobah remains an option for Crystal Palace despite the Eagles agreeing a £17.5million deal with Wolfsburg for Maxence Lacroix.
Palace sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham last week, while uncertainty remains over Marc Guehi’s future. Newcastle are still interested in a deal.
Lacroix is expected to provide some much-needed reinforcements to the defence, but Palace may need another defender before Friday’s deadline, especially if Guehi departs.
Chalobah is one of the names being considered after Enzo Maresca deemed him surplus to requirements at Chelsea.
The 25-year-old is part of Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’ and is currently training away from the first team.

Maresca reiterated on Wednesday that Chalobah, like players such as Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, will not get any more playing time this season if they stay at Chelsea after Friday.
Palace today completed the arrival of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.
The Gunners striker turned down a move to Nottingham Forest and is now set to move to Selhurst Park for £25million plus £5million in add-ons.
His arrival will coincide with the temporary departure of Odsonne Edouard.
Palace are expected to consider the option of extending Edouard’s contract before allowing him to join Ipswich Town on loan.
