Crystal Palace ‘eye up sensational summer move for Wilfried Zaha as Galatasaray agree to let the winger leave’ – with shock return to mark star’s THIRD separate spell at Selhurst Park

  • Wilfried Zaha left Crystal Palace as a free agent last year and moved to Turkey
  • His salary could prove a stumbling block, but Palace are keen to re-sign him
  • The Premier League is said to be a likely destination for the 31-year-old

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a sensational return for Wilfried Zaha, with Galatasaray willing to let him leave this summer.

Zaha left Selhurst Park for Turkey as a free agent last summer, but his current club have agreed a transfer deal for him in 12 months’ time.

With the Premier League seen as a likely destination, Zaha could make a surprise return to Palace in what would be his third spell with the Eagles.

The Telegraph have claimed that a loan deal is a possibility, although his hefty salary could prove a stumbling block for potential suitors, with Galatasaray reportedly demanding a fee of around £9m to cover at least part of Zaha’s salary.

However, his proven status in the top division and his statistics during his time in England make him an attractive option and Palace are among the clubs open to his arrival.

Crystal Palace are eyeing another sensational return to the club for Wilfried Zaha

Zaha left Palace for Galatasaray last summer, but could leave Turkey after just 12 months.

Zaha, now 31, made 42 appearances in all competitions last season but by the end of the season he had faded from the starting XI and become a key substitute.

The winger has made 30 appearances in the league, while nine have come in the Champions League and Europa League. In October, Zaha memorably scored against his former club Manchester United in Galatasaray’s surprise win at Old Trafford.

Palace chairman Steve Parish still has great respect for Zaha and Dougie Freedman, the club’s highly regarded director of football, is also an admirer of his.

Zaha made his first-team debut for Palace in March 2010 at the age of 17 and in January 2013 he became Sir Alex Ferguson’s latest signing for United.

However, under Ferguson’s replacement David Moyes, Zaha made just four appearances.

He still has admirers at Selhurst Park and Palace are among the clubs keen to sign him.

The following summer he returned to Palace, first on loan for a season and then permanently in January 2015, staying for a further eight and a half years.

Palace remain active in the market and a surprise move for Zaha could prove to be a bargain deal that could bolster Oliver Glasner’s squad.

A number of their striking young players are in the picture for the new season, with talent Michael Olise set to join Bayern Munich for £52m.

Marc Guehi is wanted by Newcastle and winger Eberechi Eze is coveted by rivals.
