Both teams scored in less than five minutes when Ricardo Pereira opened the scoring for the visitors in the 56th minute with a rocket shot past the Palace keeper
Palace drew level just three minutes later when Eberechi Eze’s free-kick bounced off the underbar and past goalkeeper Daniel Iverson.
It looked as if the spoils would be shared at Selhurst Park before substitute Mateta scored on 90+4 minutes to set the crowd on fire as Palace drifted clear of the relegation zone.
