Young and healthy boy Cruz Achilles tragically dies in his sleep
A healthy five-year-old boy went to sleep and never woke up. His sudden death left his family heartbroken.
Cruz Achilles, from Brisbane, died on May 11 as a result of sudden unexplained death in infancy, SUDC, a condition similar to cot death in which there is no known cause of the child’s death.
His devastated family said the five-year-old had had no previous illness or injury and had gone to sleep normally, like any other night.
Cruz is survived by his shattered parents Hannah and Blake Achilles, as well as his older brother and younger sister.
“Our hearts are completely shattered and our lives will never be the same,” Ms Achilles wrote in a Facebook tribute.

‘Being in denial is less painful than reality.
“We love you, our beautiful little warrior, fly high and we will be together again soon.”
His aunt Siobhan Cameron has one GoFundMe to help support Cruz’s family and cover funeral costs.
“Cruz was a beacon of love and light, a warrior who filled our lives with joy and laughter,” she wrote.
“Having your child be here one minute and gone the next is a parent’s worst nightmare that no one should ever have to experience.
“His absence has left an unimaginable void in our family, a void that can never be filled.”
Ms Cameron said her brother, Mr Achilles, is also in the process of securing a new job after his workplace closed.
“I cannot bear to watch my family silently struggle through this pain,” she wrote.
The fundraiser has raised just under $3,000 at time of publication.
