A travel blogger has expressed her surprise when she discovered what the inverted pineapple symbol represents after seeing them on cabin doors on a cruise ship.
Dominique, from the US, was invited aboard a cruise ship for free as part of her content creation commitments when she noticed that many of the rooms were decorated with a pineapple sticker.
“When you’re on your first cruise and you see everyone has this cute pineapple on the door,” she said. “I wonder what the occasion is?”
Typically, pineapple, especially an “upside down” version, is a secret sign used by swingers to identify each other in public.

“Those people are swinging. I learned that from my first cruise at a young age,” one commentator told her.
“That means invaders are very welcome… and bring friends,” said another woman.
Another added: ‘It’s a symbol of a swinger. They have swingers clubs on cruises. I’ve had enough to know.’
Brittany Lewinfrom the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, found out the hard way when she discovered that her wrist tattoo — viewed from various angles like an inverted pineapple — is actually a secret sign.
In her now viral video, Brittany shared screenshots from a chat she and a follower had when they asked if her tattoo was really an inverted pineapple.

Brittany sent a photo to confirm it was an upright pineapple when her arm is down, though the follower giggled when he discovered the secret meaning.
The TikTok star was encouraged to investigate what an upside-down pineapple meant and found that it is a symbol for someone looking for a swinger partner.
“I made a mistake besties,” Brittany wrote in the video caption.

She was mortified and completely shocked that after posting daily stories on social media with her tattoo showing that no one else had ever told her.
“That’s what I thought with every video I’ve seen of you. I just thought every man for himself,” wrote one follower.
“Every time I saw the tattoo I thought to myself ‘does she know that,'” wrote another.
“I always thought you and James were just into some extra fun lol, I’m sorry you didn’t really know,” wrote another jokingly.
‘Just turn around’ [the tattoo] at SpongeBob’s house and add some seashells,’ suggested another.
