It comes amid a busy period for Mary, who appeared to become emotional earlier this week as she and Prince Frederik paid tribute to the country’s fallen soldiers at the country’s annual Flag Day event this morning.

The mother-of-four, 51, was pictured wiping her eyes while at Kastellet military headquarters where she and her husband took part in the traditional wreath-laying ceremony for Danish soldiers abroad.

In honor of people who are or have been sent on missions by Denmark, the service was also attended by veterans.

The Australian-born princess was dressed in a pink and blue floral skirt with a navy blue long-sleeved blouse tucked in at the waist.

She paired the elegant ensemble with a navy blue wide-brimmed hat with a striking purple flower.

The royal completed her look with a pair of dainty pear earrings, lots of gold bracelets and cream-colored heels. In her hands she carried a pair of grape-colored gloves and a matching clutch.

The crown prince, 55, dressed in military regalia, sat next to Princess Mary during the ceremonies.

September 5 is an official day in Denmark to pay respect to deployed soldiers and is marked by a number of different events and ceremonies throughout the day.
