Upon her arrival, the Danish monarch greeted her eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik, with a warm hug and a kiss.
The heir to the throne, 55, looked dapper in a black suit, which he paired with a crisp white shirt.
Meanwhile, Frederik’s wife, Crown Princess Mary, looked typically stylish in a cream ensemble as she hit the red carpet.

Queen Margrethe seemed delighted by the arrival of her younger sister, Princess Benedkeek of Denmark.
The monarch welcomed her sibling, 79, with open arms and a beaming smile.
Benedkeek, the second daughter and child of King Frederick IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark, opted for a purple look for the event.
The royal looked radiant in a mid-length purple coat, which she paired with a cream-colored blouse and a tight pencil skirt.
The family went to Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen to celebrate the opening of the Danish Parliament, as the first Tuesday in October is the first day of a new parliament and New Year in Denmark.

The day of the event starts with prayers at Christiansborg Palace Church before the arrival of the royal family.
Later, the longest-serving member opens the session in the parliament chamber.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and her husband, Bo Tengberg, were also present.
Mette Fredriksen, 45, the youngest prime minister in Danish history, wore a chic red dress as she arrived hand in hand with her husband.
Bon Tengberg looked dapper in a navy blue suit, which she paired with a crisp white shirt and a crimson tie, in the colors of the Danish flag.

It comes after Princess Mary once again proved she is a frugal royal by wearing a stunning strapless floral dress to King Carl Gustaf’s Golden Jubilee in Stockholm last month.
The Danish Crown Princess stunned in a floor-length black and white floral print dress by Danish designer Lasse Spangenberg.
She arrived for the festivities along with Crown Prince Frederik, 55, and Queen Margrethe of Denmark.
The Australian-born royal has donned the beautiful dress twice before: once on September 6, 2017 during a dinner celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mary Foundation and again on August 8, 2018 during a gala dinner hosted by Queen Margrethe.
For the occasion, she refreshed the recycled look with blue and silver jewelry, a dainty hair clip, a black belt, a black handbag and a thin black scarf that fell to the back of the dress.

The last time Princess Mary wore the dress in 2018, it had a black piece of fabric running from the chest, over her right shoulder and down her back.
She and Prince Fredrik wore their blue royal sash to symbolize their role in the Danish royal family.
The anniversary was celebrated for four days, culminating in a military parade through the capital.
