Crown Princess Mary of Denmark blows a kiss in the church as she joins Crown Prince Frederik to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the historic Danish city

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark appeared in sparkling form on Sunday, blowing kisses to familiar faces at a church congregation.

The 51-year-old royal attended a jubilee service in Christiansfeld, as the historic town in South Jutland prepared to celebrate its 250th anniversary.

Arriving next to Crown Prince Frederik, who looked dapper in a navy blue suit, mother-of-two Mary cut a striking figure in a long-sleeved red dress, which she teemed with a cream floral headpiece and brown strappy sandals.

Carrying a posey given to her by the town’s grandchildren, Mary turned and blew a kiss to a line of attendees seated behind her in the church.

The event is likely to be a welcome distraction for the couple from rumors that their eldest son, Prince Christian, is reportedly in a relationship with an Italian royal family.

Hundreds of people have turned out today to celebrate the city’s anniversary celebrations, with the royal couple taking time to chat with well-wishers along the cobbled streets.

The couple were the guests of honor as the South Jutland town celebrated its big birthday; Christiansfeld was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018 and is known for its distinctive architecture.

Mary and Frederik’s son Christian, who turns 18 in October, is thought to be in a relationship with Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

The 17-year-old is said to have hosted Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, 18, in Denmark in June and made the bold decision to introduce her to his grandmother, Queen Margrethe.

Royal insiders said ‘they all had tea together’ and noted that Chiara was extremely nervous before the meeting.

Born in Hobart, Tasmania, she met Crown Prince Frederik at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Princess Mary’s Aussie roots have proved a dilemma for her during the Women’s World Cup – but there will be some relief that Denmark is no longer in the tournament as the Matildas – Australia’s team – face England in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Last week, an official post saw the king in the colors of Denmark, captioned:

Rumors that Princess Maria was dating Prince Christian, Mary and Frederik’s 17-year-old son, arose after they were photographed side by side at the Monaco Grand Prix in May.

“We’ll be cheering from “Top Over” to “Down Under” as the game against Australia kicks off soon at the World Cup,” the post, written in Danish, read.

‘Come on, Denmark. Signed, The Crown Prince Couple.’

It has been a busy summer for the Danish royal family, but there has also been a holiday.

Princess Mary was spotted taking a refreshing dip in the ocean on a family holiday to Ibiza in July.

Enjoying the sun on the Spanish island, the royal family opted for her olive-colored one-piece bathing suit from the Danish brand Copenhagen Cartel. She previously wore the garment on Sydney’s Palm Beach in December 2022.

The mother-of-two looked much younger than her 51 years as she enjoyed a day at the beach with her husband, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark.
