Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik looked ‘tense’ during their first engagement as a couple since photos emerged of his night out with a Mexican socialite, a body language expert has claimed.
The future King and Queen of Denmark have made arrangements with other family members since the scandal broke, as well as with the King and Queen of Spain.
However, on Thursday, photos of the royal family with Danish climate ambassador Tomas Anker Christensen at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen were shared on Instagram.
The meeting was their first solo engagement as a couple, without other members of the royal family, since the scandal of his night in Madrid with Genoveva Casanova.
And body language expert Judi James claimed Mary’s rigid posture suggests ‘tension’, while her pursed lips ‘point to judgmental thinking’.
As for Frederik, 55, Judi said his crossed arms added to the “coolness” of the room, even though he looked more relaxed.

Judi James claimed that Mary’s rigid posture suggests there is ‘tension’ while her pursed lips ‘suggest judgmental thinking’
The pair met with Christensen to discuss Denmark’s climate efforts ahead of COP28 in Dubai in December.
For the meeting, Mary, 51, wore a light pink blouse and black wide-leg trousers, while Frederik wore a navy blue suit with a light blue shirt underneath.
But while the color palettes were subtle, the same couldn’t be said for the change in Mary’s body language since rumors of the scandal surfaced – which Judy called “dramatic.”
“Princess Mary’s body language before all the scandal rumors often showed a very soft, warm and playful facial expression when she was with her husband Crown Prince Frederik, making this subtle switch to a more icy appearance seem dramatic,” Judi said. .
She said that, side by side, Mary and Frederik exhibit two “very contrasting” body language states.
“Mary looks formal and tense,” Judi claimed. “Her slightly raised chin, tilted head and tightly pursed lips indicate judgmental thinking, with her eyes focused on Christensen.”
And Frederik appears to be consciously or unconsciously trying to show off his wedding ring, Judi suggested, adding that he is “feigning relaxation.”
“His crossed arms look strange, which adds to the coolness of the room,” Judi said.
‘When we cross our arms, we only do it one way. Switching the position of the upper arm with the forearm is almost impossibly difficult to do. With this gesture, which looks more like a self-hug, Frederick’s trait of placing his left hand on his own bicep looks suspiciously like a conscious or unconscious desire to show off his wedding ring here rather than being part of an actual arm tuck. ‘
She added: ‘He also has wrinkles between his eyebrows that look like tension or anxiety.’
The magazine claimed that the couple saw a flamenco performance at a Spanish restaurant, El Corral de la Moreria, which ended at midnight (seen at the restaurant).
Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia, and Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are pictured together in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 8, just days after the rumors were made public
Of the stair image, Judi said Mary’s pose “suggests tension,” as her feet are pressed tightly together and her shoulders and smile appear “stiffer” than normal.
The expert said the setup for the photo “lacks symmetry” because Mary is closer to Christensen while Frederik is quite far away from him.
And people on social media noticed the ‘iciness’, with one person commenting: ‘They don’t look sparkly together like they used to.’
“Looks fresh…” said another, while a third wrote: “The elephant in the room… oh dear.”
It comes amid drama for the Danish monarchy after Frederik was pictured enjoying a night out with Mexican socialite Genoveva on October 25 on the streets of Madrid, reports the Spanish magazine Lecturas.
In the photos, taken during the day and evening, the couple enjoy a walk through the park before changing and heading out again for the evening.
After it was reported that the duo had enjoyed a night out in the Spanish capital without Frederick’s wife of 19 years, Crown Princess Mary, Genoveva, 47, issued a statement denying any form of romantic relationship between herself and the future Danish king.
In a legal letter posted to Instagram, she slammed “malicious” rumors suggesting the pair were in a romantic relationship.
