Later this month, on September 24, a Crowdstrike executive will speak before a U.S. House of Representatives committee about the patch incident that brought the operations of many major U.S. companies to an abrupt halt.
According to The registerLate last week it was confirmed that Adam Meyers, Senior Vice President of Counter Adversary Operations at Crowdstrike, has been called to testify.
In mid-July this year, thousands of organizations around the world were unable to function properly due to a major bug that affected most Windows computers.

Among those affected were British broadcaster Sky News, major airline Ryanair, Berlin Airport and many more, all reporting the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) and a boot loop issue during recovery, which prevented their computers from booting.
It was later revealed that the global outage was caused by a faulty update issued by Crowdstrike. “We have widespread reports of BSODs on Windows hosts, occurring on multiple sensor versions,” CrowdStrike said in a support note issued at the time.
CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity technology company specializing in cloud-delivered endpoint protection. It offers a range of products and services that prevent cyberthreats and detect attacks. The company also works on threat intelligence, analyzing and reporting on the latest trends and threats in the cybersecurity community.
CrowdStrike’s flagship product is Falcon, an advanced cybersecurity platform designed to protect endpoints through a cloud-native architecture. The company later confirmed that the faulty patch was designed for Falcon.
In an interview with the company, The Register was curious as to why CEO George Kurtz isn’t the one in the hot seat, given that his presence was requested in July. The company gave the classic PR response of “continuing to work actively and cooperatively with relevant congressional committees.” The statement left a small door open to the possibility that Kurtz might speak at another time:
“Briefings and other timelines for engagement may be announced at the members’ sole discretion,” they said.
