Crocodile attack, NT, Australia: Little girl’s remains are found
Police believe they have found the remains of a missing 12-year-old girl, who is believed to have disappeared after a crocodile attack.
The girl was last seen swimming in Mango Creek, in the remote Northern Territory community of Nganmarriyanga, 360km southwest of Darwin. She was reported missing at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Sergeant Erica Gibson said the girl had reportedly been attacked by a crocodile and an extensive search had been launched.
“This is devastating news for the family, the community and everyone involved in the search,” she said.
‘The police are providing support to the family and the community, as well as to the emergency services who arrived on the scene.’
Sgt Gibson said there was evidence crocodiles were in the area but the crocodile management team had not spotted any since the attack.
