Cristiano Ronaldo’s stoppage-time error that dumped Al-Nassr out of the Saudi Cup also saw a young fan’s phone knocked out of his hands.
Al-Nassr were eliminated in the last 16 by Al-Taawoun, who defeated the home team 1-0 in a shock result on Tuesday evening.
However, Ronaldo had a golden opportunity to level the match deep into stoppage time and force the tie into extra time when his side were awarded a penalty.
But the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus superstar fired his penalty high over the bar.
The 39-year-old then walked away with his head in his hands.

Ronaldo’s penalty miss in the 96th minute had sealed Al-Nassr’s shock cup result against Al-Taawoun
Ronaldo’s wayward effort had landed straight at a youngster, with his phone flying into the air
Ronaldo then suffered even more shame after new images circulated on social media on Wednesday.
As Al-Nassr fans behind the goal tried to capture the moment they hoped would be the equalizer, one young fan saw his phone knocked out of his hand by Ronaldo’s effort.
The ball appeared to hit the youngster on the arm before his phone flew into the air and he was knocked back by the impact.
Al-Taawoun had shocked the home fans when they took the lead in the 71st minute of the match when defender Waleed Al-Ahmed nodded home from a corner.
The away side almost scored again in stoppage time but in a dramatic turnaround, Waleed turned from hero to villain when he brought down Mohammed Maran in the penalty area to give away a penalty.
Ronaldo’s penalty miss resulted in a shock exit for Al-Nassr against their opponents
Fortunately, fear turned to relief when Ronaldo missed the penalty, meaning the Portuguese player’s third straight exit from the Saudi Cup since moving to the Middle East in 2022.
Ronaldo will look to get back to his usual self when the Saudi Pro League resumes on Friday, when Al-Nassr – who are currently third – take on league leaders Al-Hilal.
