Cristiano Ronaldo has told his fans that he plans to retire from football, saying Al-Nassr will likely be the last club he spends his entire career with.

In an interview with Portuguese NOW, the 39-year-old hinted that he is not considering retiring anytime soon, despite the fact that his contract with the Saudi club expires at the end of the season.

His future is shrouded in uncertainty following his tough season at Euro 2024 with Portugal and the fact that he turns 40 in February.

Ronaldo previously indicated that next summer’s tournament would be his last European Championship, although he could still represent his country at the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking about his future plans, he said: ‘I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years… but I will probably do it here in Al Nassr.’

“I am very happy in this club, I feel good in this country too. I am happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue,” he added.

Ronaldo joined the Saudi club in January 2023 in a deal reported to be worth £175million a year, following his departure from Manchester United.

Although some fans see his move to Saudi Arabia as a retirement for footballers, he scored 61 goals in 67 games and provided 16 assists for his teammates.

Despite his advanced age, Ronaldo, who made his international debut in August 2003, was a regular starter for Portugal. He failed to score a single goal in five matches at Euro 2024.

The team’s head coach, Roberto Martinez, previously stated that no decision has been made about the striker’s international future after the knockout stage of the tournament.

When asked when it would be time to end his international career, Ronaldo replied: ‘If I leave the national team, I won’t tell anyone.

‘It will be a very spontaneous decision on my part, but also a very well-considered decision.

‘At the moment I am not thinking about becoming a coach of the first team or any other team.
