Cristiano Ronaldo ‘stays OFF Man United’s traveling squad to face Fulham as the attacker struggles with illness’ after the Portuguese star also missed their Carabao Cup over Aston Villa in the midweek

  • Cristiano Ronaldo did not travel to London for Man Utd clash with Fulham
  • The 37-year-old missed the midweek cup victory at Aston Villa due to illness
  • The Portuguese star has scored just three goals for Man Utd so far this season

Cristiano Ronaldo is not part of Manchester United’s squad that traveled to London for Sunday’s Premier League game against Fulham.

The Manchester Evening News report that Ronaldo was not part of United’s tour group to the capital after being absent from the club’s training ground in Carrington on Saturday.

The Portuguese star missed United’s 4-2 Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa on Thursday due to illness, and it appears Ronaldo will have no part in the proceedings at Craven Cottage.

Ronaldo will not play a role in Man Utd’s game against Fulham on Sunday due to illness

The 37-year-old has started each of the last four games before the cup win at Villa, and was expected to be equipped for the game anyway.

After the game, United gapper Erik ten Hag wasn’t sure if Ronaldo would be available for the weekend’s action, but he was confident he would make the Fulham trip.

The Dutchman said: ‘I can’t guarantee that now’ [that he will return at Fulham] but he was sick today, he can recover from that. It’s not really a serious illness that lasts days or weeks, so I think it’s possible he will be available on Sunday and in the squad.”

His absence from Sunday’s Premier League clash will be the first game Ronaldo has missed since he was recalled to the United roster after being banned for his strike in last month’s win over Spurs.

Erik ten Hag was confident that Ronaldo would play against Fulham, but he did not travel to Old Trafford with the squad

Ronaldo has endured a stop-start campaign so far this season at Old Trafford, only managing to score three goals for the club in 16 appearances. With just four Premier League starts.

It means Ronaldo won’t be playing for the Red Devils again until after this month’s World Cup, and on his return, rumors will surface about United’s number seven ahead of the January transfer window.

He has been included in Portugal’s roster for this month’s tournament and is expected to once again play a leading role in their campaign in Qatar.
