The attacker played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, among others, and scored 132 goals in 214 international matches for Portugal.

“I’m going to miss the adrenaline of scoring a goal and the feeling of nervousness,” he said.

‘I think I’m going to miss that, because on the other side of me I can control that. I have good people around me, good businesses, I have good things.

‘But I (will miss that) the adrenaline of football will never exist (anymore). That’s why I’m going beyond football.

‘I give everything, until 40, 41, it doesn’t matter. I give my body for 25 years of football and I can’t give more because age doesn’t allow me to go further.’

Ronaldo, who despite his age has no plans to retire anytime soon, has won no fewer than 33 trophies in his career.

Despite a disappointing Euro 2024, in which he failed to score for Portugal and was heavily criticised, the 39-year-old insisted he still has a lot to offer.

‘That’s why I take good care of myself and keep working hard.

“Because I know I can produce something good for another two or three years,” he added.

‘But after that I don’t even want to think about it anymore. Let me think in the present and prepare other parts, like my work area.

“I’ll miss it and I’ll probably feel a little lost.”
