GWS Giants fans not only saw their team blow a 44-point lead against the Brisbane Lions at Engie Stadium on Saturday night, they also witnessed the Wiggles rub salt in the wound.

The Lions won their semi-final 15.15 (105) to 15.10 (100) against GWS, despite trailing by 44 points in the third quarter.

The Wiggles were thrilled with the result. Blue Wiggle Anthony Field and Purple Wiggle Lachie Gillespie made a funny video to celebrate.

In the clip, Field lashes out at GWS by knocking back an orange for their fruit salad.

“The Lions have won. Let’s make a Brisbane Lions Fruit Salad,” says Gillespie.

‘We are the pride of Brisbane, we wear maroon, blue and gold.

‘The first step, a chestnut apple. The second step, blueberries. The third step, a golden kiwi.

‘One for all and all for one.’

Not all football fans were happy with the Wiggles’ cheeky song

In the next scene, Field says, “Hey Lachy, do you want a Giants orange for the fruit salad?

‘Yes? No.’

The cheeky song ends with Gillespie singing, “All for one and one for all. Go the Lions.”

The clip received mixed reactions from fans, with some taking issue with it.

“This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen,” posted one X user.

“Creepy,” replied another.

“You still have time to remove this,” said a third.

“Oh my fucking goodness… the social media team needs to put that crack pipe away and go to bed, this is embarrassing,” another replied.

Brisbane now play Geelong in a rematch of the 2022 preliminary final, which the Cats won by 71 points.

The Lions reached the final last year, but lost by four points to Collingwood.

Coach Chris Fagan was honest when asked if his players thought back to the mourning of last year’s final during their thrilling comeback.

“Probably,” Fagan said.

“I know they’re desperate to get back there and give it another try.

“There’s a long way to go before we can do that. Next week we play Geelong, a pretty good football club and team, who taught us a lesson in a preliminary round a few years ago.

‘But I have no doubt that that is what drives them.

‘I look at Dayne Zorko and it drives him, you know he’s 35. He doesn’t know how many years he has left to play the game and he desperately wants to win one.

“I think that’s what drove the group. Joey Daniher is the same. The guys on our team that are a little bit older, they lifted it up in that last quarter.”
