Former Australian test cricketer and ex-St Kilda footballer Simon O’Donnell has closed a multi-million dollar deal to sell his sprawling estate.

The horse and cattle farm in Willowmavin, Victoria, has been occupied by the 60-year-old sportsman turned commentator for 30 years.

Although O’Donnell could not reveal the exact sales price of the agreement reached late last month, the farm was on the market with an asking price ranging from $4.5 million to $4.9 million.

The property includes not only the family home, but also a range of horse and livestock facilities that the couple have diligently renovated during their 29-year tenure, including a tennis court and a large swimming pool.

O’Donnell revealed that the international buyer of the property has a fascination with horses but is said to have no ties to the racing industry.

In conversation with real estate.com.auO’Donnell said even though the sale was bittersweet, he hoped the new buyer would enjoy the property.

“It has always been a happy farm, and we hope that will be the case for the new residents as well,” he said.

“It has been thirty fun years and we look forward to the next thirty.”

O’Donnell boasts an impressive sporting career, appearing in six Test matches for the Australian cricket team and 87 one-day internationals.

Although O’Donnell could not reveal the exact sales price of the agreement reached late last month, the farm was on the market with an asking price ranging from $4.5 million to $4.9 million.

The property includes not only the family home, but also a range of horse and livestock facilities that the couple have diligently renovated during their 29-year tenure, including a tennis court and a large swimming pool.

He also had the honor of captaining the Victoria state cricket team and represented them in Sheffield Shield matches for almost a decade.

Before that, O’Donnell played 24 games for St Kilda Football Club.

In addition to his exploits on the cricket and football fields, O’Donnell later became a prominent figure in the world of horse racing.

His son James has also embarked on a career in the AFL and is listed as a rookie with the Western Bulldogs.

O’Donnell expressed his excitement for his former team as they prepare to kick off their finals campaign this weekend.

Speaking to realestate.com.au, O’Donnell said even though the sale was bittersweet, he hoped the new buyer would enjoy the property.
