Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne was left red-faced after gifting his wicket to the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash on Wednesday evening.
Labuschagne, 29, was on the cusp of facing the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba when he made a schoolboy mistake.
In bizarre scenes, Labuschagne and batting partner Sam Billings both went to the wrong end of the wicket after the 10-over break.
Billings then singled off the first delivery in the 11th over to hand the strike back to Labuschagne.
It proved crucial, as Labuschagne was bowled out for 45 the next ball after picking a delivery to Josh Inglis from the bowling of Lance Morris.

Considering Labuschagne should have kept the strike and faced the first ball in the 11th over, cricket fans – and commentators – were shocked by what happened.
Labuschagne is also known to value his wicket highly.
“I think it could be a controversial dismissal if the videotape is rewatched,” commentator Mark Howard told viewers.

Labuschagne’s blushes were spared thanks to a late cameo from Michael Neser, who plundered an unbeaten 64 from 30 balls.
In the field, the Heat defended their imposing 6-191 from 20 overs and won by 23 runs to seal their place in the semi-finals.
Labuschagne will now turn his attention to Test cricket after being named in Australia’s 13-man squad to face the West Indies.
The first Test starts on January 17 at Adelaide Oval.
