Cricket commentator calls for team to be ‘reported to the International Criminal Court’ over shocking scenes during match

  • Zimbabwe pushed its way past Gambia on Wednesday
  • They broke several records, including the highest T20I score
  • Captain Sikandar Raza recorded a score of 133 not out

Cricket fans were left stunned on Wednesday night after Zimbabwe smashed records to blast home a ridiculous total of 4-344 in their T20 World Cup qualifier against Gambia.

In the match, Zimbabwe recorded a 290-run win, eliminating Gambia by 54 points.

Zimbabwe’s insane total is a new record in international T20 cricket, with captain Sikandar Raza and his side surpassing Nepal’s previous 3-314 against Mongolia in September 2023.

Raza also enjoyed an excellent afternoon at the crease, scoring 133 not out, while Tadiwanashe Marumani scored 62, the side’s second highest score.

Gambia only became an associate member of the ICC in 2017, with the team playing just 13 T20 Internationals.

But they were brutally defeated by Zimbabwe, who broke a number of other records during the match.

Raza hit seven fours and 15 sixes during his innings and raced to his ton in just 33 deliveries, making his century the third fastest in T20I history.

His innings also places him fifth in the order of most sixes in a single T20I match, three short of Estonian Sahil Chauhan’s record against Cyprus in June.

Kenya are also yet to lose a match but will face Zimbabwe later today in their final match of the Group B T20 Africa World Cup sub-regional qualifiers.
