Creative’s new wireless desktop speakers add RGB lighting too, because why not

PC sound specialist Creative has taken the wraps off its new Creative Pebble Pro computer speakers – a souped-up version of its popular orb-style stereo Pebble desktop system.

Just months after the brand released the budget-yet-impressive Pebble Plus, the Pebble Pro features all-new full-range drivers, the latest generation of Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and a digital rather than analog amplifier stage with built-in sound processing.

Creative claims the new setup offers more audio space, delivering louder, clearer sound across all volume ranges, along with up to 3.5 times more bass than Pebble V3.

In addition to the audio enhancements, the Pebble Pro also has a new RGB lighting feature on the bottom of each speaker, with a wide selection of colors and three lighting effects (Cycle, Pulsate or Solo). The company clearly hopes that this will be an entry in the list of the best computer speakers that will seduce gamers, and their unstoppable love for RGB.

As with the Pebble Plus, the Pebble Pros have a slightly angled speaker design for a more focused sound wave aimed at a seated listener’s ears – they’re smaller than most of the best stereo speakers, so this design is meant to maximize space and height. to add.

Unlike the Pebble Plus, there’s no option for a separate subwoofer, but Creative seems to think you don’t need one thanks to the Pro’s enclosure design and their BassFlex tuning technology, which they claim offers an extended low-frequency response. and can deliver pronounced bass even when the volume is low.

Built-in audio processing, meanwhile, includes Creative’s custom Clear Dialog feature, which, when enabled, picks up and amplifies spoken word content relative to ambient sound effects.

There’s a pretty comprehensive range of connectivity options, with Bluetooth 5.3 support, a 3.5mm aux-in port, headphone and microphone ports, and a USB-C port for audio streaming and power, along with a dedicated volume rocker on the front of the phone. the right sphere which also doubles as a controller for the RGB lighting.

While the speakers can be powered through the aforementioned USB-C port on your computer, you’ll want to take the full advantage of the Pebble Pro’s by plugging them into a 30-watt adapter, which delivers a powerful 30W RMS and 60 W allows peak output. Unfortunately, the adapter is not included in the box and is optionally available.

The Creative Pebble Pro costs $59.99 / £65.99 (around AU$93) and is available now.

Analysis: speakers in the new Pro version look like an all-round sample

We were impressed earlier this year with the “criminally cheap” Creative Pebble Plus 2.1 stereo speakers, which raised our expectations for these latest, more premium additions to the series.

There’s a slightly higher asking price for these latest dinky desktop speakers, but the new drivers and audio processing would more than justify the extra expenditure, and that’s not without factoring in the moody RGB lighting feature.

We have reservations about the venerable 1990s-tinged Creative logo that features on the front of the otherwise tastefully designed sound balls, and we’re intrigued to hear how approachable they can deliver without a sub, but we have high hopes for the Pebble Pros and can’t wait to put them to the test.
