After clearing his second weight class to make boxing history, Terence Crawford plots another move through the divisions.
Crawford destroyed Errol Spence Jnr in Las Vegas last month to become the first ever male undisputed champion in the four-belt era, sweeping all the marbles at welterweight after already conquering junior-lightweight.
And while Spence should deliver his toughest test yet — on paper, at least — there’s another undisputed king on a more weighty throne who would pose an even bigger challenge: Canelo Alvarez.
The ease with which Crawford took Spence apart in a bout between two current pound-for-pound masters was breathtaking, so much so that fans are now calling on the Nebraska fighter to gain significant weight for a mega fight with Canelo.
The Mexican currently holds all four world super-middleweight championships and has even claimed a light-heavyweight title, meaning it would be a significant step forward.

Fans are now clamoring for the Nebraska fighter to put on the weight and take on Canelo — and Crawford says he wouldn’t have a problem with that
Nevertheless, Crawford is poised to make it happen at 160 pounds or a catchweight just under the middleweight limit.
When asked if he would fight Canelo The breakfast club, Crawford said, “We can do something with a catchweight. Probably 160 or so. 158, 160, that would be cool.”
Host Charlamagne tha God then asked who would come out on top in that proposed match, to which he replied, “Crawford. Come on man…’
Despite welcoming a possible confrontation with Canelo, Crawford says there have been no discussions about the fight so far, with the Guadalajara man instead focusing on his clash with Jermell Charlo next month.
“No no no,” said Crawford when asked if any talks had been held. “You know they were already focused on what they got in front of them, that’s Jermell.
“I would never try to interfere with what they’re going on right now.”
Charlo, another undisputed champion who currently reigns supreme in junior middleweight, has also emerged as a potential opponent for Crawford after the pair exchanged words during his recent victory over Spence.
The welterweight master opened up their feud on Shawn Porter’s The Porter Way podcast this week, telling his former opponent he called him “ab***ha** n****.” Charlo has already thrown in the gauntlet for a grudge match, should he shock the world against Canelo.
But Canelo first has to get past Jermell Charlo, who holds all four belts at junior middleweight

However, Crawford does not expect this to happen.
“I got Canelo,” he said of the Sept. 30 fight. “I think it’s going to be a good fight.
“I think a lot of people sleep on Charlo, but he’s competent, he’s tall — he’s taller than Canelo, even though Canelo has a higher weight.
Canelo is going to be stronger than him, Canelo is going to be stronger than him, but at the same time I think Charlo has the skills to make it a competitive fight.
“Use his punch, straight punches and don’t get caught up in all the fainting and stuff Canelo throws.”
