The body of a man lies in a swamp near a park in a residential area in Melbourne.

The gruesome discovery was made at Solar Close in Cranbourne East in the city’s south-east just before 2pm on Thursday.

The area of ​​the park has been cordoned off and police have established a crime scene.

Detectives and forensic investigators remained on site on Thursday evening.

SES teams have also been deployed to assist with the investigation.
